A great artist once said “learn the rules like a pro, break them like an artist”, a statement that rings true on the new BODEGA offering ‘Tarkovski’. Having studied the dogma of Russian director Tarkovsky, vocalist and guitarist Ben Hozie takes things off piste, “Theory never really gets at what you want and applying theory to the chaotic practice of art making (while still useful and essential) is like skiing down a wild slope" he explains. 'Tarkovski' is the lead single ahead of BODEGA’s third album, the title Our Brand Could Be Your Life being a play on the famous Minutemen lyric and a comment on the corporate mentality of indie. With overdriven guitars and a repeated refrain of “take me to the zone”, BODEGA fly the flag for the spontaneous and organic in a landscape dominated by rules and regulations. -Adam Brown
